Steve is the Founding Partner of Architecture 101 and has been practicing architecture in Savannah and the surrounding region for more than 25 years. Originally from West Virginia, his interest in design started with a love for golf course design and eventually grew into a career in architecture. He earned his Bachelor's of Architecture from Virginia Tech and remains, for better or worse depending on the season, a very optimistic Hokie football fan.

More than anything, Steve is a people person. He genuinely enjoys getting to know clients, consultants, contractors, and anyone else who finds their way into a project. Relationships have always been a big part of how he practices architecture and are at the heart of the culture he has built at Architecture 101. He is a team player who would much rather get everyone around the same table, throw ideas around, and figure something out together than work through a problem in isolation.

Steve has also loved computers for about as long as he has been able to get his hands on them. He has built several of his own and still occasionally takes apart computers around the office just to see what he can improve. He is a huge science-fiction fan, has watched an impressive percentage of the history documentaries ever made, and can happily talk about fish tanks or identify plants for far longer than anyone expected when the conversation started. He also loves to cook, which occasionally turns an ordinary afternoon at the office into a spontaneous courtyard barbecue.

In his free time, you will probably find Steve working. When you don’t, he is usually spending time with his family at the lake house, catching one of his daughter’s plays or concerts, playing golf with his son, or taking on another house project with his wife. Somewhere in between, he is likely fighting a losing battle with the squirrels digging up his backyard or getting the pool back together after another hurricane season.
